JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Government today said some miscreants have been detained and FIRs are being lodged in separate incidents after investigations in the backdrop of Kishtwar clashes.
“We have identified and detained some of the miscreants in Kishtwar incident and FIRs have also been lodged against them,” Suresh Kumar, Commissioner Secretary, Department of Home here this evening told reporters.
Mr Kumar said some motorcycle borne youths barged into the crowd following which the tension triggered but the matter is being investigated.
On curfew, the Commissioner Secretary said,”situation is tense but under control. The Curfew will continue tomorrow also and further decision will be taken only after assessing the situation.”
He said out of 10 districts in Jammu region, curfew has been imposed in seven districts barring Ramban, Doda and Reasi where section 144 of CrPC has been imposed.
On today’s situation, Mr Kumar said,”barring some stone pelting incidents, a vehicle was torched in Domana area but rest the situation was peaceful,” adding that Army was mobilised to maintain law and order problem.
The Commissioner Secretary said a gun shop was looted at Kishtwar on the day of incident but a FIR has been lodged and the matter is being probed.
Two persons were killed and four injured in Kishtwar clashes and one person was killed and two injured in Paddar, he added.
“Machial Yatra pilgrims, who got stranded in Kishtwar, were rescued and sent back to their respective houses,” he said adding that no ban has been imposed on media and till curfew passes are not issued, directions have been issued to the police and other security agencies to consider identity cards as curfew passes.
On BJP leader Arun Jaitley’s detention, Mr Kumar said,”they were detained under prohibitory measures only due to their Kishstwar visit otherwise such step would not have been taken.”
Meanwhile, Director General of Police Ashok Prasad, who accompanied the Commissioner Secretary said law and order situation is being maintained.
“We will ascertain the situation and only thereafter will decide on lifting curfew,” Mr Prasad said while expressing ignorance over snapping of internet services across the region.
