SRINAGAR, July 25: The Department of Posts on Wednesday launched ‘Saffron Post’ scheme that will deliver the famous Kashmiri saffron at the doorsteps of the customers ‘anywhere in the world’.
The scheme was launched by Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir at Pampore, also known as Saffron town of the valley, in Pulwama district, months after it was announced by the the postal department.
“This new service will be a major boon to the Saffron growers and dealers,” John Samuel, Chief Post Master General said.
Saffron Post is available in packets of 0.5 grams, one gram and five grams at select post offices in Kashmir, an official of the Department of Posts said.
Customers can buy the products in person at India Post outlets in Jammu and Kashmir.
Or they can place orders of Saffron through the Post Master (Saffron Post division), Srinagar GPO, Srinagar 190001 and the products will be packed and delivered through Speed Post across India and around the world, the official said.
