SRINAGAR: Kashmiris will now get more cooking gas at subsidy prices per year as New Delhi has agreed to raise the cap on LPG cylinders.
At present consumers are provided only 6 cylinders for a year at subsidised prices; the next fiscal they will be provided 9 cylinders.
Chief minister, Omar Abdullah thanked the Union government for the decision, on twitter.
“Grateful to the Govt of India for accepting states like J&K’s request to increase the number of subsidised LPG cylinders,” Abdullah tweeted.
The move will bring to local people who are grappling with energy crisis in the midst of a harsh winter season that lasts till March and is often marked by heavy snow.
