SRINAGAR: Police say they have busted a module of the Hizbul Mujahideen militant group in south Kashmir allegedly involved in a grenade attack on them.
“The case of grenade attack on police post Sher Bagh in Anantnag town on June 2 has been solved with the arrest of four persons affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen,” a police spokesman says.
According to the spokesman two more members of the group have absconded and a manhunt has been launched for them.
After the blast, the police had arrested Irshad Ahmad Dar, a resident of Sheerpora village for questioning.
His interrogation revealed “one Mukhtar Ahmad Dar of Dangerpora lobbed the grenade on the directions of Hizbul Mujahidin militant Mubarak Ahmad Wani alias Major Saqib and Fayaz Talak,” the spokesman says.
Talak is presently lodged in the central jail in Srinagar.
