SRINAGAR, July 3: Kashmir Valley hosted a gilded high society wedding party this past week where a Delhi girl got married to an Uttar Pradesh boy.
The big fat wedding saw around 500 guests flying to Srinagar where they had booked almost all the top of the line hotels including Grand Lalit and Taj Vivanta on the banks of Dal Lake.
Sources said that many guests were flown in by a number of chartered planes while some managed on their own bringing in 20 swanky Mercedes Benz cars. More than a 100 luxury vehicles were also hired locally.
The wedding ceremony of Mayank and Palavi took place in the lush green lawns of the SK International Convention Centre where the guests enjoyed the sumptuous feast as the music band from Mumbai crooned and played the light and soft tunes.
Agencies which provided the services said the families spent a whopping Rs 5 Crores or 50 million during their 3-day-stay here.
The wedding, they said, was earlier scheduled to be held in Mauritius but they chose Kashmir given the pleasant weather of the valley.
