‘I will be victorious, let them throw stones at me’
HAJIN: The cavalcade of a senior Kashmir minister has been pelted with stones in north Kashmir, the fourth such atack on him in a month.
Muhammad Akbar Lone, Minister for Higher Education, was on a tour of his constituency when angry youth threw stones at his cavalcade in Markundal village in Sumbal.
A local news agency, CNS, reports that Mr Lone was forced to flee without attending a meeting of his party workers.
He has denounced the attack on him saying it was carried out by “miscreants with vested interests”. “Let them resort to attacks. Time will decide who would bag the Sonawari Assembly seat,” he said.
Markundal is the same village where a few months ago two youth were shot dead by the Army in civvies.

The protestors were angry that Mr Lone never visited them in his capacity as a legislator.
“Further, Markundal and Hajin witnessed no development during his tenure as Speaker and Cabinet Minister. He paid all his attention towards Sumbal,” one of the residents said.
However the police have denied any stone pelting took place in the area.
