SRINAGAR: A teacher and a student are among three arrested for running a drug network in south Kashmir, police say, and they have also seized 3000 bottles of codeine drug.
Zahid Hussain Shah of Akhran village in Kulgam works as a teacher at Y. K Pora government school and is the kingpin of a drug network spread across the south of Muslim-majority Kashmir region, they said.
A student, Afaq Khan of Chuimulla has also been arrested alongwith Bilal Darzi of Nathipora, Dooru.

The network, police said, was busted following investigations into the death of a youth who had died due to over use of drugs.
They also raided a house of one Farooq Ahmed Wani in Padgampora village and recovered 3000 bottles of codeine.
These bottles were supposed to be sent across southern districts of the valley to be consumed by people, mostly young men and also women.
“Complaints were pouring in from the public regarding the menace having got foot hold in the area,” a police spokesperson said.
The police has also seized the truck which brought the consignment of drugs.
