SRINAGAR, July 16: The Committee on Ethics of Legislative Council on Monday recommended that measures should be taken for infusing morality in the administration so that corrupt practices and nepotism.
The move is also aimed at attempting to get the Muslim-majority state rid of the tag of “second most corrupt” in the country.
“Legislators, Haji Ali Mohammad, Aga Syed Ahmad Rizvi, Master Noor Hussain attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions for improving the functioning of the committee,” an official statement said.
It added that threadbare discussion was held on the various issues including the problems being faced by the MLC’s at different levels, besides ethical rules and regulations.
Omar Abdullah led coalition government has been facing increasing public ire over rampant corruption.
Few years ago anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International rated Kashmir the second-most corrupt state in India after Bihar.
But hardly any action was taken to weed out the corrupt.
