SRINAGAR, Oct 9: In a surprising incident, a Kashmiri journalist was stopped at least twice from entering the state assembly for the simple reason of ‘wearing a black shirt’.
Imtiyaz Ahmad, a reporter with a local Urdu daily, was stopped by security men at the entry gate of the assembly complex stating that they ‘have orders of not letting in anyone who was wearing black’.
“I was shocked when they stopped me for wearing a black shirt. They saw my I-cards. I told them that I have to cover the proceedings, but they did not listen,” Ahmad said.
The incident comes a day after a youth in black, who had a valid pass to enter the assembly, stormed into the well of the house raising slogans against the government.
Ahmed said he had to face a tough time convincing the security staff to let him in.
“I told them that I was ready to handover the shirt. After some other colleagues of mine assembled, one of the senior security officers let me in. Inside the assembly building, I again faced a similar behavior from the security staff,” he said.
