Kashmir hosts 2nd sub-junior national cricket championship

GANDERBAL, Sept 20: Jammu and Kashmir defeated Rajasthan in the opening match of the second sub-junior National Cricket Championship which started in Ganderbal district of the valley on Thursday.

The home team secured victory without losing any wicket.

Sports minister, R.S. Chib inaugurated the championship at Madr-i-Meharban Stadium, popularly known as Qamaria Sports Stadium in the district.

“The sports ministry is working hard to uplift the sports in the state and the aim is to expose the hidden talent among youth to gain new heights,” Chib said.

Teams from 20 states across India are participating in the 4-day long championship, an official spokesperson said.

“Nineteen teams of boys and 5 teams of girls will compete among themselves for glory during the ongoing national championship,” he said.
