KATHUA, Sept 4: The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered ban on sale and consumption of liquor, meat and tobacco around Mata Vaishno Devi Mandir (temple) Langerial in order to what government said was to prevent annoyance to worshippers.
An official spokesperson said that 300 metres area around the Mata Vaishno Devi Mandir Langerial, Dyalachack Hiranagar has been declared as a dry area and drinking of alcohol (except in the bar room of Dak Bunglow, Dyalachack), eating of meat, use of tobacco and narcotic drugs, performing of funeral rites (except in the cremation ground) besides parking of the vehicles near the temple or enroute is prohibited.
“Additional District Magistrate, Kathua Mr. Puneet Sharma has directed that anybody violating the order shall be prosecuted under section 188 of the Ranbir Penal Code,” the spokesperson said.
This order shall remain in force for a period of two months.
