“Congress nominates Karbalayi for Chairmanship”
SRINAGAR: A day after National Conference and Congress Coordination committee broke the deadlock, the authorities in Kargil district of Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir fixed Sunday for the oath taking ceremony of its Hill Council.
The District and Sessions Judge, Kargil will administer oath to all the newly elected councillors of the Kargil Autonomous Hill Development Council.
The oath ceremony would take place at 4 pm.
A Congress minister told a local news agency, KNS, that a senior leader of the party, Asgar Karbalayi has been nominated for the council chairmanship.
Karbalayi while confirming the development told KNS that the party leadership has already conveyed to him his nomination.
“I have been informed about the decision and the formal election would take place on Monday when all the councillors would meet for the first time,” he said.
He added that the claim for the formation of the council has already been staked by congress on 5th of September and added that with National Conference having withdrawn their claim, there was no need for congress to renew it.
