SRINAGAR, Sept 8: In what seemed a one-sided match, soccer giant Mohun Bagan, Kolkata won its first goodwill match against host team JK-XI at the Bakshi stadium on Saturday.
As thousands of excited fans cheered, the visiting team maintained pressure from the beginning and the home team could not manage to fight back till the last moment. The match ended in 4-0.
Mohun Bagan, one of India’s premier football teams are in the state to play two matches with the hosts, one each in Kashmir and Jammu region.
The second match of the series will be played at G. G. M. Science College Football ground, Jammu on September 11.
The match was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and J&K Football Association.
Minister for Youth Service and Sports, Medical and Technical Education, R.S. Chib who was chief guest on the occasion distributed trophy to the wining team and individual medals to the players of both the teams.
Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam wani were special guests on the occasion.
