J&K to Constitute Committee on Adoption of 2nd UGC Amendment

SRINAGAR: A Joint Committee (JC) of Kashmir and Jammu universities would be constituted to look into adoption of the 2nd Amendment of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulation.

This decision was taken at University Council meeting, chaired by Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, who is chancellor of both the universities.

Regarding adoption of the 2nd Amendment of the UGC Regulations (on Minimum Qualification for Appointment of Teachers and Other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education 2010), as notified by the UGC on June 13 2013, the Council discussed the issue and resolved to constitute a Joint Committee of both the Kashmir and Jammu Universities to look into the matter in detail.

It was also decided to associate the Vice-Chancellors of other Universities functioning in the state to come up with its recommendations in the next 3 months.

The Council further decided to upgrade the Post-graduate Diploma in Disaster Management to a Post-graduate programme.
