JAMMU: The sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigations today apprehended the Assistant Director of Jammu and Kashmir Handicrafts Department for accepting bribe in lieu of releasing amount in favour of a NGO for workshop.
“Based on tip off, a trap was laid and the Assistant Director, Office of the Development Commissioner, Handicrafts, Udhampur identified as K K Sharma was arrested today from his residence in Nanak Nagar area of Jammu,” a senior CBI Official said.
He said the official was demanding and accepting Rs 75,000 as bribe money.
“He sought money for releasing an amount of Rs ten lakh in favour of a NGO for conducting a workshop on handicrafts,” said the official.
He has been taken into custody and a case under 161 of RPC and Prevention Against Corruption Act has been registered against him.
