SRINAGAR: The authorities in north Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have ordered an inquiry into the alleged assault of a female student by her school principal.
Over two hundred students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Saloora village staged a protest demonstration this morning against their principal Mushtaq Ahmed.
Witnesses told Freepress that Ahmed slapped a twelfth grade student and threw expletives at her. She had been late to school by ten minutes.
The protesting girls later marched towards the district head or deputy commissioner’s office to file a formal complaint.
The DC, Sarmad Hafeez told Freepress that he has asked the Chief Education Officer of the district to conduct an inquiry and submit the report in two days.
“If the allegations against the principal are true, then strict action will be taken,” he said.
