JAMMU: A day after the Income Tax department conducted inspection of business establishments in this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, a famous sweet shop owner here surrendered Rs 1.5 taxable income to the department.
“The owner of the Sweet Shop yesterday surrendered Rs 1.5 crore taxable money to the Income Tax Department,” an official here said. He said the records and documents were seized by the IT teams during a scrutiny and it was found that he was evading tax worth crores.
Different teams under the supervision of Joint Commissioner, IT Department Jammu, on Wednesday audited six establishments including Jagat Resorts, Sehyog Resorts, Bikano Fast Food, Ajay Trading and Krishna Trading Companies and Kwality Sweet Shops and seized their records to ascertain their assets.
“The documents of other defaulters are being scrutinised,” he added.
