Islamabad, Feb 11 (2000) – The Hizbul Mujahideen outfit Thursday said “sacrifice squads” had been formed to intensify its campaign in Kashmir and attempts were on to unite all militant groups under a joint command.
Reacting to U S pressure on Pakistan for banning militant groups, the self-styled supreme commander of the militant wing of the Jamat-e-Islami, Syed Salauddin, said in an interview to the Voice of Germany that imposing a ban on any “Kashmiri organisation” could not be justified.
He said European countries considered the Indian stand on the Kashmir issue right “because of their (own) political and economic interest”, according to an Urdu transcript faxed to PTI by the group.
