Applicants from serial number 1 to 1699 under general waiting list have been declared as provisionally selected for Haj pilgrimage.
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has received an additional Haj quota of 1699 seats from the Haj Committee of India raising the total number of Haj seats for the Haj-2013 to 8819.
This year the State Haj Committee received 21693 applications from aspiring Hajis.
Out of earlier 7120 allotted seats, 1991 seats were given to reserve category A above the age group of 70. At least 2512 seats were allotted to reserve category B (4th Timer) while as 2617 seats were allotted through Qurrah.
14573 applications were put in waiting list.
An official spokesman quoted Minister for Haj and Auqaf Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed as saying that with the additional quota the applicants from serial number 1 to 1699 under general waiting list have been declared as provisionally selected for Haj pilgrimage.
The concerned applicants have been asked to contact their respective Deputy Commissioners and deposit the first installment of Haj dues amounting to Rs. 76,000 by or before May 31, 2013, he said.
“The pilgrims can download the Pay-in-slips from www.hajcommittee.com or www.jkshc.com ,” he said.
The minister thanked Haj committee of India for this gesture.
