SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today emphasised the need for taking effective measures to tackle the serious issues of traffic management in the state.
He laid stress on the high importance and urgency of all required measures for effectively meeting the existing problems and the fast increasing demands for enhancing transportation facilities and tackling the serious issues of traffic management in the State.
The Governor was interacting with a delegation of the Confederation of India Industries (CII), Kashmir Zone, led by Sheikh Imran, which called on him at Raj Bhavan here today.
The delegation presented a concept paper to the Governor in regard to putting in place inland water transport system in the Kashmir Valley in a phased manner, promoting this facility in Srinagar city to begin with.
The delegation briefed the Governor about the salient features of this proposal which had been implemented in 1996 but later given up, for reasons which are not adequately clear.
