SRINAGAR, May 27: Notwithstanding the army’s claims that it was not safe for tourists, the authorities have already begun the publicity for Bangus valley in the frontier district of Kupwara in North Kashmir.
‘Bangus valley-explore the untouched world’ mentions the publicity brochure of the Lolab- Bangus- Drangyari Development Authority released by Junior minister of tourism, Nasir Aslam Wani on Sunday.
The brochure has been published for publicising the three areas among tourists.
“The brochure can be remembered as unique as three new tourist destinations of the Kupwara district have been given three separate identities,” Wani told a public gathering after inaugurating a tourist guest house at Chandigam village in Lolab.
“It will be a big achievement, if we are able to attract a few package tours to Lolab, Drangyari and Bangus areas”, he said.
The minister’s comments have come just days after General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar-based 15th Corps, Lt Gen Syed Atta Hasnain said that Bungus valley wasn’t still safe for tourists due to “militant launching pads just across the Line of Control”.
But the minister said that proposals had already been sent to the union tourism ministry for funding.
“They would help us in creating tourist infrastructure facilities to woo foreign and domestic tourists”, Wani said.
The tourism minister has also asked officials to “organise education tours to the upcoming tourist destinations”.
