Govt ‘Terrorising’ Muslims in Kashmir’s Buddhist Town: Malik

SRINAGAR: Senior separatist leader and JKLF chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik has strongly condemned “government’s brutal assault” on Kashmiri Muslims in Buddhist majority Leh town of Ladakh region.

The authorities have started a demolition drive against encroachments in the area. Many people from the valley, who move to the cold desert region for business, also own small shops.

Malik accused the government of “first locking up businesses and then demolishing shops” and driving Muslims in the area to poverty.

“Police cane charged and arrested many people and has terrorized the whole Muslim community in Ladakh region,” he said, adding that Kashmiri Muslims being part and parcel of these ‘terrorized’ brethren stand with them in this hour of need.

Malik accused the government of unleashed a “reign of terror” also on the Muslims of Kargil town for taking out a protest march “in favor of Kashmiri people”.
