SRINAGAR: Strongly condemning the attack on a sarpanch by unidentified gunmen in Sopore today, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) alleged that the Omar Abdullah government was responsible for attacks on Panchayat leaders in the valley.
AJKPC chairman Shafiq Mir demanded dismissal of the coalition government in the state.
In a statement here, Mr Mir said the coalition government has failed to provide security to elected representatives, who have now become soft target of gunmen.
Asking the sarpanches of the state not to be afraid of these cowardly acts of those who make unarmed people their target, Mr Mir appealed to human rights organisations to intervene.
Mr Mir also demanded the dismissal of the Omar government for its alleged failure on all fronts.
