“Get Ready For A Decisive Struggle”
SRINAGAR: Kashmir’s octogenarian separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a shutdown on Saturday and Sunday – September 14 and 15.
He has reiterated his call for protests after Friday prayers.
“The strikes will convey a demand to end the forcible occupation and will also convey a message to the world that our fight will last as long as the last Indian soldier lasts here,” Geelani said in a statement.
He has also appealed to the people to ready themselves for a “decisive struggle to end the occupation in Kashmir”.
The leader, who heads the hardline faction of separatist alliance Hurriyat Conference, has also urged the people to severe all ties with the pro-India parties here.
“These parties act as a bridge to strengthen the forced occupation, and until this bridge is broken our youth will continue to be showered with bullets and our grooms will be smeared with blood instead of henna,” he added.
Geelani has termed the killings by the security forces in Shopian on Wednesday and last Saturday, and also the death of senior separatist, Abdul Rashid Gazi in north Kashmir as “unacceptable”.
“The mysterious death of Gazi is questionable,” he added.
