SRINAGAR: Kashmir’s octogenarian separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called upon people to converge at Eidgah in old Srinagar on Friday.
A spokesperson for Geelani said in Srinagar that funeral prayers in absentia would be offered for Muhammad Afzal Guru near the “Martyr’s Cemetery” on that day.
He said Geelani has asked people to observe a shutdown till Friday.
Chairman of the hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, Geelani is in Delhi where police have placed him under house arrest since Saturday.
Another senior separatist leader and chairman of his faction of the Hurriyat, Mirwaiz Umer farooq is also in Delhi.
Neither he nor geelani have been allowed to return to the valley.
The authorities have imposed an indefinite curfew across the valley since Saturday morning which continued for the third day today.
