SRINAGAR: Kashmiri children living Below Poverty Line can now undergo free surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute New Delhi in case they are suffering from congenital heart disease.
This will be organised by the Rotary Club of Jammu and Kashmir under their scheme called “Gift of Life”, a government spokesman said in a mailed statement.
He said that parents and guardians of children desirous of availing the opportunity should register their names with Chief Coordinator Rotary Club of Rajouri, K.K. Langar on 9419170603 or e-mail to [email protected] alongwith domicile proof, echo report, three passport size photographs, BPL certificate and medical information form.
The patients can also get themselves registered at Srinagar with Kids’ Rehabilitation Clinic, Society for Special Children, Pandrethan, Srinagar Contact No. 9419000189 or e-mail to [email protected].
“Preliminary screening of the patients will be done by experts at Jammu on July 05.
“In case patients desire arrangements, the same can be tied up for preliminary screening at Srinagar as well. Final screening of the patients will be held onJuly 21 at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu where eminent Paediatric and Congenital Heart Specialist Dr. Krishna S. Iyer will screen the patients.
Children finally selected will be operated upon in Delhi.
However, the travelling expenses upto Delhi and local expenditure including boarding and lodging at Delhi will have to be borne by the patient, the spokesman added.
“Only the cost of open heart surgery will be met by Rotary club.”
