JAMMU, Sept 11: After losing their first match, Jammu and Kashmir’s football team Tuesday secured victory against soccer giant Mohun Bagan in their second goodwill match.
They won by 4-2 goals.
Earlier, during their first match, played at Bakshi stadium in Srinagar, the hometeam had suffered a disappointing defeat, losing 4-0.
At the GGM science college football grounds, Jammu, the final score of the exciting match was tied at 1-1. A penalty shoot ensured victory for the hosts with three goals and the guest team scoring only 1.
“The credit of the big win, among others, goes to brilliant goal keeping by Vikram Jeet Singh of J&K XI, who is also the captain of the team,” an official statement said.
Meanwhile, the J&K Bank announced one lakh rupees for the winning team and Rs. 20,000 for captain Vikram Jeet Singh for his outstanding performance.
The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council has also announced Rupees one lakh for the winning team.
