SRINAGAR, July 9: More than five months after an avalanche hit an army camp in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, dead bodies of two more soldiers, buried under snow, have been retrieved, police said on Monday.
Earlier on July 2 search teams recovered the bodies of two soldiers who were buried under snow.
On Januray 24, an avalanche swept Keran sector near the Line of Control in Kupwara killing a soldier of the Border Security Force (BSF) while six army personnel were believed to be buried deep under snow.
“Kupwara police were informed about two more dead bodies of sepoy Ajay Kumar and Lalit Mohan Singh of 1st Bihar Unit Kilooan Naar near Gujjar Doora, Kupwara, who had come under a snow avalanche,” a police spokesperson said.
The bodies have been sent to a local hospital for legal formalities, he said.
