SRINAGAR: Fire broke in the civil secretariat building in Jammu, the Winter capital of the state, on the first day after the administration shifted from Kashmir valley.
The fire erupted in one of the offices headed by Urban Development Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora.
An employee in the building told FreePress that the fire was caused by short circuit. He said the fire had already been doused by employees present there when fire tenders arrived.
There has been no official word so far, but normal business has now resumed.
The Jammu and Kashmir government is an administration on the move and shifts between Srinagar and Jammu every year to escape chilly winter and scorching summer in each of the capitals.
The secretariat houses the offices of the Chief Minister and his colleagues.
In July, the secretariat in summer capital Srinagar remained shut for two days after a massive fire broke out in a string of offices behind the main building.
A forensic report has suggested that that it was no accident, but was a case of sabotage as kerosene was found sprayed.
