SRINAGAR, July 6: Females have outshined males in the coveted state civil service examinations this time.
Nine out of the first ten positions in Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) exmaination held in 2011, the results of which were declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission Friday, have been bagged by women.
While the examination has been topped by Mohit Raina, the second and the third spot has been hit by Pooja Rasgotra and Anissa respectively.
An increasing number of youth from the state, especially from the valley, are choosing Indian civil services and Kashmir Administrative Service as their career.
The valley youth have been inspired by Shah Faesal, a North Kashmir boy, who topped the Indian Administrative Service examination a couple of years ago.
The state’s General Administration Department had referred 142 vacancies of different Gazetted services to the PSC in May 2011. The PSC conducted the preliminary examination in September, 2011 wherein 21,414 candidates appeared. Out of these 3555 candidates qualified for the mains.
A total of 503 candidates qualified for the interview and Commission selected the required number of candidates within a period of one year.
