SRINAGAR, Nov 27: Police today filed a chargesheet against a man who allegedly killed his eight-year-old daughter in order to claim exgratia relief meant for militancy victims.
The chargesheet was filed against Mohammad Shafi Malik, a resident of northern valley’s Tikker village, in the court of Sub-Judge Kupwara, Deputy Superintendent of Police (headquarters) Sajjad Ahmad said.
Ahmad, who headed the investigation into the killing of Ishra on March 26 last year, said Malik had killed his daughter for monetary benefits.
“The body of the girl was recovered 19 meters away from her home and during investigation her father turned out to be the culprit,” he said, adding, Malik had planned to blame militants for the killing to claim the ex-gratia relief from the state government.
