JAMMU: A former militant, who was returning to his native village in Kashmir along with his Pakistani wife and child was arrested at Jammu Tawi Railway Station here.
“Acting on a tip-off regarding the return of former Kashmir-based militant Mohammad Sharief along with his Pakistani wife and a child via Nepal to India and then to Kashmir from Jammu, a trap was laid and the trio were taken into custody from Jammu Tawi Railway Station last evening,” an official here today said.
He said the militant had crossed over to Pakistan through Kupwara in late 90s when the militancy was at its peak.
“He had reached Nepal from Pakistan and then entered India from Uttar Pradesh to head towards his village in Kashmir but apprehended in Jammu,” he added.
He is being questioned, the official added.
