SRINAGAR: An English and Urdu translation of the poetry written by Kashmir’s patron saint Sheikh-ul-Alam Noor-ud-Din’s poetry was released Wednesday.
‘Alchemy of Light II’ – by Ghulam Nabi Adfar was released at Markaz-i-Noor, Centre for Sheikh-Ul Alam Studies, University of Kashmir.
The 498-page book is the second volume of translation of the saint’s mystic poetry.
It conatins translation of 350 mystic-verses or Shreuks written by Hazrat Noor-ud-Din.
Speaking on the occasion, the author said that the basic motivation for him to translate Sheikh–Ul-Alam’s poetry was “my close proximity to Sheikh-Ul-Alam”, citing his native village of Charari-e-Sharif, the town where the Saint’s shrine is located.
“I found that it is my duty as a son of the soil,” Adfar said.
The book release function was also attended by Vice-Chancellor, Kashmir University, Prof. Talat Ahmad, retired Justice Bashir Ahmad Kirmani, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah and other renowned academics.
