SRINAGAR: Nearly a dozen worshippers have been injured after the cieling of an overcrowded mosque collapsed in Ganderbal area of Kashmir valley, police say.
They say the mosque at Mohalla Sayed, Gund Sarfraw was overfilled with people offering Friday prayers on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad when its ceiling fell on worshippers, injuring eleven of them.
“The Masjid was jam packed and the ceiling could not hold upon the weight of the gathering on the first floor,” a police spokesperson said.
The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment.
Eid-e-Milad marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad in 570 AD in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
