SRINAGAR: The Drug Licensing Authority (DLA) has suspended operation of 12 outlets in twin south Kashmir districts of Anantnag and Kulgam.
An official spokesman said here today that a special team constituted by the Drug Control Authorities under the overall supervision of Additional Drug Control (ADC) Anantnag and Kulgam, Mohmammad Iqbal Pala conducted surprise checks on several Medical Shops in both the districts.
The team comprising inspectorate staff empowered by the State Government found that some medical establishments were not complying with the conditions of licenses mandated under prescribed rules.
The DLA, on the recommendations of the empowered team suspended operation of 12 such establishments for an initial period of 10-12 days.
The local police authorities have been informed of the action and requested to maintain strict vigil on these establishments so as to ensure that the orders of the competent authority are implemented in letter and spirit.
The empowered team as a routine also lifted 50 numbers of statutory drug samples from the market and sent these to various drug laboratories for test analysis.
The trade fraternity dealing with the drugs has been asked to strictly adhere to the mandate of drugs laws, failing which they will face the action under the provisions of law.
