SRINAGAR: Doctors have been rushed to a village in northern Kashmir valley where more than a 100 children have fallen ill.
Children, aged between 2 and 10 years, in Kambar village of Baramulla’s Rafiabad area have been reportedly suffering from abdominal pain, vomiting and fever and some had redness in eyes.
Officials told the United News of India that 12 the children have been admitted to the District Hospital Baramulla while others are being treated at a local health centre.
Medical teams from Srinagar and Baramulla have been rushed to the village to conduct tests to know the causes of this “viral” disease.
“We cannot say if the disease was due to contaminated water or some food,” the doctors say.
But they quickly add that all the children were out of danger.
Local people have alleged that the mid-day meals being provided to the children at schools were responsible for the disease among the children.
