SRINAGAR: Curfew has been lifted in all parts of the Jammu province, except Kishtwar, where it continues for the seventh day today except for a brief relaxation.
On Friday last, a curfew was imposed following violence between Hindus and Muslims that killed three and wounded scores others.
Both communities suffered in large scale incidents of arson.
“Curfew has been lifted in 7 districts of Jammu region except Kishtwar, where 4-hour morning relaxation was given,” Divisional Commissioner Shantu Manu said.
“There were no reports of any untoward incident from anywhere. It was peaceful today as Independence Day functions went well are all the places were curfew was lifted,” he said.

Authorities had imposed curfew in Jammu and Rajouri on Saturday and in Reasi, Udhampur, Samba, parts of Doda and Kathua on Sunday. Communal tension had spread to these areas.a
