Curfew in Srinagar on Thursday

SRINAGAR: The authorities have decided to impose a curfew in all parts of the Srinagar district on Thursday to prevent violent demonstrations over the killing of a youth in Saidapora area in the city suburbs.

The curfew will come into force from tonight, deputy commissioner Srinagar, Baseer Ahmed Khan told freepresskashmir.com.

Altaf Ahmed Wani was killed on Wednesday afternoon in firing by paramilitary CRPF in Saidapora area near Eidgah in Srinagar.

This is the second killing by security forces since last Tuesday.

Last week, curfew remained in force in parts of the valley for days while  it was imposed in the entire Kashmir on Friday after a young man, Tahir Ahmed Sofi was killed in firing by security forces in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Meanwhile, separatist leaders have called for a shutdown on Thursday against the youth’s killing.
