SRINAGAR, Dec 2: Curfew will continue to remain in force in at least two police station areas in downtown capital Srinagar on Monday, authorities say.
This is to prevent violent clashes between shia and sunni muslims.
Sectarian clashes are rare in Kashmir valley but there were minor clashes on Wednesday between two groups of youth.
Authorities had imposed curfew in nine police station areas in the capital with a mixed population of shias and sunnis.
It was lifted on Saturday but fresh clashes that morning forced the police to impose fresh restrictions in Zadibal and Nowhatta. The curfew continued even today. Elsewhere life was normal.
In the curfew-bound areas, the situation remained peaceful, a police spokesperson said.
However he added that the curfew in these two police station areas and Urdu bazaar area will continue on Monday.
