SRINAGAR: A local court in Kishtwar district has ordered a probe into the assault of a senior government officer by the junior Home Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Executive Officer of the Kishtwar Development Authority, Riyaz Ahmed Choudhary had moved court complaining that police had not acted on his complaint against Minister of state for Home Affairs, Sajad Kitchloo.
Kitchloo had slapped Choudhary on April 18.
The chief judicial magistrate of Kishtwar Ajay Gupta has asked the police to submit a report in the matter by May 14, the PTI reports.
According to Choudhary, he was also attacked by the minister’s supporters as Kichloo was enraged over his late arrival for a chief minister’s rally.
“As I reached the spot a bit late, the minister told me ‘what do you think of yourself?’. (When) I said I am an official performing my duty, he (Kichloo) slapped me twice,” Choudhary had told reporters after the incident.
The chief minister Omar Abdullah initially did not reprimand the minister, but later said that he had asked him “not to repeat such things in the future.”
