SRINAGAR: A police officer has been shot dead in south Kashmir’s Pulwama town, police say.
Suspected militants fired at assistant sub-inspector Farooq Ahmed while he was on duty at Rajpora Chowk at around 2 pm. He was shifted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The gunmen fled the spot, a police officer told Freepress.
He said the police have launched a manhunt for the attackers.
This is the second attack on policemen in Kashmir in fifteen days. On April 27, militants shot dead four policemen in Hygam area of Sopore in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
