SRINAGAR: It is nearly two weeks since schools reopened in Kashmir valley after winter vacations.
But confusion still prevails about the timings in government schools.
Some schools in Srinagar, the state’s summer capital, open at 10 am and close at 3 pm while others open at 10:30 in the morning and close at 3:30 in the afternoon.
The working hours are the same which is evidence that heads of these schools have no ulterior motives and are simply confused.
The Director of school education (Kashmir) and the Chief Education Officer of Srinagar were flooded with calls in the first few days after the reopening of schools, with students and teachers asking about the official timings.
A teacher who did not want to be named said: “We suggested to the authorities that they should issue a circular to clear the confusion.”
No such circular was ever issued.
“The authorities are either not aware that the confusion still prevails or it just doesn’t matter to them,” said a student.
