SRINAGAR: In a major relief to residents of hundreds of families in many villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, caesarean section have been started at Community Health Centre (CHC), Zainapora.
The first such surgery was conducted on Friday by Dr Samiullah.
The CHC caters to around fifteen villages around the hospital, but people had to travel 20 kilometres to Shopian and 35 kilometres to Anantnag district hospitals in case of complicated deliveries.
Block Medical Officer, Dr Showkat Hussain, who was present on the occasion, said caesarean surgeries in case of complications can now be conducted at the CHC Zainapora itself.
He said many other surgical procedures have also been started at the hospital with a fully equipped Operation Theater.
