SRINAGAR: Body of a Srinagar resident was recovered under mysterious circumstances from a park at Pahalgam in south Kashmir district of Pahalgam, official sources said here today.
They said panic gripped Pahalgam when body of a person was found in a park by some people yesterday.
Police immediately took away the body and the deceased was identified as Bilal Ahmad Sangoo, a resident of Surateang Rainawari.
The body was kept in District Hospital at Anantnag, they said, adding the body was later handed over to his relatives this morning after postmortem.
The cause of his death was not known, they said, adding police have initiated proceedings.
However, when the body reached Rainawari, people protested and demanded a thorough probe.
They said Bilal was seen near his house at 1145 hrs yesterday and he was found dead at Pahalgam in the afternoon.
The residents also demanded investigation how Bilal had reached Pahalgam. Shops and business establishments remained closed in the area.
