“CRPF Unleashing Terror in Shopian”
SRINAGAR: Refuting Kashmir police claims that one among the four youth shot dead by CRPF in Shopian on Saturday was a Lashkar militant, senior Congress leader and former Minister, Ghulam Hassan Khan has claimed that he was instead a labourer from Bihar state.
“Police claims are false. Being the resident of Shopian, I can tell you with authority that he was innocent. That Bihari labour was shot dead by CRPF men because he was the witness of the barbaric act of the CRPF,” Khan said, according to a local news agency, CNS.
He said the police “shelved the matter” and buried him at an unknown place in the forest.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Khan said that CRPF men deployed in Gagrin Camp in Shopian had “let loose a reign of terror” and said they did not spare even women.
“CRPF men caught hold of a young girl, tore her clothes and thrashed her ruthlessly.” He called it the “height of cruelty”.
Khan has appealed to the party leadership to part ways with the National Conference, which rules the state in coalition with the Congress.
He has also appealed to the government to shift the Gagrin CRPF camp without any delay. “This camp is turning out to be a death camp for the people of Shopian and it should be removed immediately,” he said.
