BARAMULLA: A one-day film festival organized by the media studies department at government college in Baramulla Tuesday saw huge participation from the students.
The festival was first of its kind in the history of college and was attended by senior faculty members, teachers, students and research scholars from various Universities of Kashmir and outside the state, the organizers said.
Eight films, including both fiction and non-fiction, were screened.
The jury comprised theater director Arshad Mushtaq, filmmaker Faruk Masudi, who also heads Media Education Research Centre, University of Kashmir and Amin Bhat, director and writer.
In fiction category, Withdrawal- a film by Musa Saleem was adjudged the best while Praraan (waiting) a tele-film by Kashmir-born Uzma Falak was awarded the second prize.
In non-fiction category, the traceurs– an MERC production– was adjudged the best, while Lost – a film by Ather Mohiduin– won the second prize and
Colors of Dal a film by Saba Malik of IUST was awarded the third prize.
After the screening of the films, a panel discussion was held by the jury members where they discussed the nuances and grammar of film making.
They also lauded students for their efforts in film making and presented their valuable suggestions.
