SRINAGAR: Six people have been injured while another is missing after an avalanche swept away three vehicles deep down into a gorge in Ladakh region, police say.
A Tata Sumo and two trucks were travelling from Gumri to Mianmarg near Shetani Nallah in Kargil district Thursday night when the avalanche occurred.
Two passengers of the Tata Sumo and four drivers and conductors of the two trucks have suffered minor injuries. They have been sent to Army hospital in Gumri, a police spokesman says.
Another passenger who was travelling in the Sumo, Gulzar Ahmad Kaloo, a resident of Sumbal Sonarwari in north Kashmir, is still missing, the spokesman says.
According to him a joint rescue team of the police and army is underway.
