No picnic to Pahalgam, Sonamarg for two months
SRINAGAR: Authorities in Kashmir have directed schools not to send students on excursion to Pahalgam and Sonamarg, in view of the annual Amarnath pilgrimage.
“In respect of other picnic spots, prior permission needs to be obtained from concerned Zonal Education Officer and Chief Education Officer in case of the Elementary schools and in respect of High and Higher Secondary Schools,” an official spokesman said on behalf of Joint Director School Education, Kashmir.
“This should be ensured by the head of the Institutions both Government and Private that the excursion and picnics are conducted carefully, leaving no room for any misdemeanour and safe pick-up and return of students.”
Violation of instructions shall be viewed seriously, the spokesman added.
The annual Amarnath yatra, one of the holiest pilgrimages for Hindus of the country, is scheduled to start from June 28. It will last for nearly two months before it ends on the Hindu festival Raksha Bandhan.
