SRINAGAR: A girl in Rajan village of the state’s Jammu region was allegedly bundled into a vehicle and then raped by two men, a local news agency has reported.
Police have launched a manhunt for the accused.
Sources told the KNS agency that a girl (name withheld) was abducted by two men and then gang raped in a minibus on Saturday.
The Victim managed to escape from their custody and narrated the incident to her parents the next day, they said.
A medical examination has confirmed that the girl was raped, they added.
Police say they have launched a hunt for the accused. However, no arrests have been made so far.
Terming the occurrence as unfortunate, Chairperson of the State Womens Commission (SWC), Shamima Firdous said: “I’m sending a deputation from the Commission compromising only female members to visit the area and ensure justice to the victim and her family.”
“If there is any negligence on part of Police, strict action will be taken against them. I’m looking into the matter and ascertaining facts.”
