Governor, CM express grief over Kashmir shrine fire

SRINAGAR, June 25: N. N. Vohra, Governor Jammu and Kashmir has expressed deep sadness over the serious damage caused by fire to the historical Shrine of Dastgeer Sahib in Srinagar.

Vohra expressed relief that the holy relics kept in this Shrine were safe and secure.

“Early work will commence to restore this revered Shrine to its pristine glory,” he said.

Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the incident at the revered shrine.

“I am deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and share the grief of the people”, Abdullah said.

“I express my solidarity with the people.”

While appealing to the people to maintain calm, Omar Abdullah has directed the Muslim Waqaf Board-management of all major shrines of the state- to start the restoration work at the shrine.
